Gender equality means the state of everyone being equal, regardless of their sex, gender or sexuality. Often time, this means empowering those who are more vulnerable and seen as having less opportunities for equality – such as women, and members of the LGBTQIA community. Here are 5 quotes about gender equality to inspire us to fight for change:

Everybody has the right be treated fairly and to not be discriminated against. At the end of the day, where they come from, who they associate themselves with or who they choose to love (especially when it isn’t hurting anybody) shouldn’t make them less worthy of respect.

Equality should apply to everybody, including people who are vulnerable. For example, you shouldn’t treat someone who is less fortunate than you badly because they too have rights and they deserve to be treated with dignity.

Gender equality is important because it is a step towards human rights and realising that, at the end of the day, all humans are equal. Equality between both sexes will exist if we all get to enjoy or have access to the same opportunities, access to education and health.
