Low cost tips to prevent skin cancer

Your skin is the largest organ on your body, so it’s very important to take care of it. Apart from going to expensive specialists and spending money on skincare products, there are other, more affordable ways to protect your skin from skin cancer. Here are few.

What is skin cancer?

Skin cancer is an abnormal growth of skin cells that happens when skin is exposed to the sun and becomes damaged over time.

How can you prevent it?

If you must walk in the sun, make sure it’s not between 12 and 3 PM because that is the hottest time of the day. The sun’s ultra violet (UV) rays are strongest during these times and you will be at a higher risk to getting skin cancer. If you have no option, make sure you apply sunscreen and use an umbrella at all times.

Don’t get sunburned

Avoid getting sun burned by wearing hats and sunglasses and using an umbrella whenever you are out in the sun, this will help keep the sun off your face and protect your eyes from harmful UV rays.

Examine your skin

Moles are bumps of raised coloured skin cells (melanocytes) and are usually harmless. If you have any moles or bumps, watch out for any unusual symptoms like rapid growth, a change in colour or shape, and a previously flat mole suddenly becoming raised. Bleeding, itching, or scaling could also be a sign of something abnormal, so visit your nearest clinic if you see any of these symptoms.

Your skin protects your internal organs from the environment, so it’s very important to make sure you take care of it. For more information on how you can take better care of your skin, visit this website.
