Self-care ideas for you and your best friend

The concept of self-care is all about taking care of your mental, physical and emotional well-being. In order to make your self-care routine a habit (which is very important), it helps if you can go through this journey with your best friend. Here is my list of 5 self-care ideas to try with your best friend.

Do your nails

There’s nothing that makes you feel better about yourself than having your nails done. But because some schools don’t allow colours, you and your best friend can either use clear nail polish or a buffer (which is affordable at Dischem) to make your nails look shiny.

Homemade facial masks

Every person regardless of gender should take care of their skin. You and your best friend could make one of these simple homemade facial masks to make sure that your skin glows:

For oily skin

Oily skin is one of the most frustrating skin types because your skin may be prone to breakouts, acne or even blackheads. Here is an egg and yoghurt mask that you can try:

  • Break one egg and use the egg white only
  • Mix the egg white with plain yoghurt
  • Apply the mask on your face for around 15 minutes and rinse it off.

For Dry Skin

Dry skin can make your face look dull and tired, so it’s important that your mask gives your skin the desired moisture. Here are the ingredients for banana mask:

  • Mash one banana in a bowl until it’s soft
  • Add one spoon of honey and 4 spoons of plain yoghurt
  • Apply the mask on your face for around 15 minutes and rinse it off.

Meditate

Meditation can help you relax, reduce stress and focus, which is why you and your best friend should make it a habit. This articlehighlights ways you can meditate as a beginner.

Catch up on your favourite series

Self-care also means that you should give your body a rest and not do anything hectic. You could have a binge-watching session with your best friend by catching up on your favourite series, soapies or movies.

Reading

Bonding over a book with your best friend is amazing, and you can even call it a two-person book club. If you don’t know which books to start reading, then have a look at this article again for some inspiration.

Self-care is really all about giving yourself the attention and love that you deserve, and most of the time your mental and physical health will benefit from it.

I know how hard you work at school so it’s important to remember to take a break from everything and breathe, what better way would you take care of yourself than doing it with your best friend?
