Your voice matters – here’s how to speak up #DoneWithSilence

#DoneWithSilence is a social media campaign about using your voice to speak up against any societal injustice you’re done being silent about. The campaign is also about spreading awareness about the change you’d like to see in the world around you.

Some of my Chomas have already used their voices and made a contribution towards the change they’d like to see by making their #DoneWithSilence posts. If you haven’t used your voice yet, here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Log in to your Choma profile or sign up for a profile if you haven’t done so already.

Step 2: Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the #DoneWithSilence social wall ( a collection of other #DoneWithSilence posts from different social media platforms). Thereafter, you’ll pick your desired platform like Facebook or Twitter for example.

Step 3: Once you’ve decided on the platform you prefer to use, you can create a post with your message and the hashtag #DoneWithSilence. Remember to tag Choma (@Chomamag on twitter, @Choma_mag on Instagram and @Choma on Facebook) before you click send.

Because this campaign is meant to empower everyone, bring positive change through online activism, and allow us to work together so we can come up with solutions to tackle the societal issues we are faced with, I cannot approve posts that contain hate speech or the use of profanity or curse words.

Remember to use the #DoneWithSilence hashtag and tag me so your post can feature on the #DoneWithSilence social wall. Not only will you be using your voice to contribute towards change, but you’ll also encourage others to use their voice to speak up about the changes they’d like to see.

What can you speak about?

You can speak about absolutely anything Choma. You can speak about things like gender inequality, relationships or even sexual reproductive health rights. If there’s something you wanto to speak up about, then this is the platform for you.

Don’t let anyone try to silence or convince you that what you have to say doesn’t matter. Your voice matters, and if you can use it for a good cause, then don’t be shy to do. The change that we all want to see begins with you and I – so speak up and be #DoneWithSilence!
